Sign-in methods

This page shows you how to sign in with Apple and how to add a second way into your household.

It is for anyone in the household who wants more than one way in. It is also for you if you created the household with Apple and now want it on the web.

Sign-in method is one way of proving it is you: Google, Apple, or your email address with a password. Every sign-in method opens the same household; there is no separate account per method.

If you already have a household under your email address, don’t sign in with Apple first. Connect your Apple ID from inside the household instead; the next section shows how. Signing in with Apple before connecting sends you back to the password sign-in with a note, and nothing new is created.

  1. Open app.nestbalm.com and choose Continue with Apple. Apple’s own sign-in sheet opens.
  2. If Apple offers Hide My Email, choose either option. Nestbalm accepts the relay address Apple creates for you, and you can share your real address later.
  3. Confirm on Apple’s sheet. You are back in Nestbalm.

What you see next depends on your household:

  • If your Apple ID already belongs to a household, you are signed in to it.
  • If you have no household yet, Nestbalm asks whether you want a demo or your own household, then asks you to choose a passphrase. Your household is created with you as its first member.
  • If your email address already has a household with a password, Nestbalm shows the password sign-in with the note This email already has a Nestbalm account. Sign in with your password once; Apple is connected to that household from then on.

Connecting your Apple ID to an existing household

Section titled “Connecting your Apple ID to an existing household”

You need to be signed in to the household you want to connect, with any method that already works.

  1. Go to Profile → Security → Sign-in methods.
  2. In the Apple row, choose Connect Apple ID. Apple’s sign-in sheet opens.
  3. Confirm on Apple’s sheet. You are back on Profile with the note Apple ID connected. You can now sign in with Apple too. The Apple row now reads Connected.

Apple’s Hide My Email relay address is fine here too: the connection is tied to your signed-in household, not to an email match. Your household’s email address stays what it was.

If the note says the Apple ID is already used by another Nestbalm household, that Apple ID is connected elsewhere. Disconnect it there first, or delete that household if it was created by mistake.

The same card offers Connect Google for a Google account and Set a password for your email address. Both follow the same shape: choose the action, confirm, and the row reads Connected.

Removing a method affects only how you sign in. Your household, its data, and everyone else in it stay exactly as they are.

  1. Go to Profile → Security → Sign-in methods.
  2. In the row you want to remove, choose Disconnect. The row reads Not connected at once.

Nestbalm never removes your last sign-in method. While a method is the only one you have, its Disconnect button stays greyed out and the card shows This is your only sign-in method. Add another one before removing it. If you connected Apple in the browser, removing it also withdraws Nestbalm’s access at Apple.

You can connect the same method again at any time.

Your household has the sign-in methods you chose. The next time you open Nestbalm, on the web or on your phone, any connected method signs you in to the same household.
