Approving transactions

This page shows how to review new transactions and approve them for your household.

Do this after every import, so nobody has to wonder which entries have been checked.

A pending transaction is one that has arrived but that nobody in the household has confirmed yet. To approve a transaction is to confirm that your household has checked it; the pending marks disappear.

  1. Open the Transactions page. The header shows how many transactions are pending.
  2. If a pending transaction has no pocket yet, categorise it first. Nestbalm refuses to approve a transaction without a pocket.
  3. Select the row, then select Approve. The pending marks disappear for everyone in the household.
  4. To confirm a whole page at once, select Approve … on page. Transactions without a pocket are skipped and stay pending.

A transaction split across several pockets approves like any other; its parts already carry their pockets.

Your budget numbers do not change: a pending transaction with a pocket already counts in that pocket. Approving records that someone in the household has looked at it, and the pending count at the top goes down.
